چکیده

The commercial laying hen has demonstrated appetites for energy, protein and calcium. Compounded layer diets are balanced with respect to energy as it is generally considered that the energy appetite of the bird is dominant. The current practice of feeding compounded diets has been shown to be inefficient where environmental or disease status alters the bird’s energy metabolism (Mastika, 1987; Walker and Farrell, 1976) which then may result in protein and calcium insufficiency. Similarly, the metabolic requirements of the layer for each of the dietary constituents varies with individual, age and over time; calcium requirement is generally greatest 812 hr after the previous oviposition (Hughes, 1972; Mongin and Sauveur, 1974; Mongin and Sauveur, 1979) which corresponds with the formation of the shell of the next egg*

Efficacy of Feeding Various Calcium Source and Concentration on Egg Quality, Some Blood Variables, and Performance of Aged Laying Hens

The primary aim of this study was to assay the influence of dietary Ca sources and levels on performance, egg quality indices, and selected blood variables of laying hens. A total of 192 Bovanz commercial layers were distributed to 6 dietary treatment groups with 4 replicates and 8 birds in each replicate. The experimental diets were iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous, but they were different in t...

The Effects of Dietary Calcium Sources and Vitamin D3 on Egg Quality and Performance in Laying Hens

This experiment was designed to evaluate the effects of different sources of calcium at different rates and cholecalciferol(Vitamin D3) on the performance and egg quality of Hy-line W-36 Laying hens. In this study a total of 648 hens were managed in a completely randomized design using a factorial arrangement of 3 × 3 × 2 treatments, with three calcium sources (oyster shell, OS; ground limeston...

Effects of long-term calcium deficiency on the electro-and echocardiography in laying hens

Background: Ca is the most important minerals in the body that plays a key rols in the physiological activities, anzymatic reaction and the regulation of myocardial contraction and relax-ation. Ca deficiency causes the heart failure and decrease cardiac contractility. OBJECTIVES: To determine the effects of long-term dietary calcium deficiency on the heart function of layer hens based on the el...

Effect of Wet Feeding on Feed Conversion Efficiency in Laying Hens during Summer Season

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of wet feeding on feed conversion efficiency in laying hens during summer season. The study was carried out on 192 pullets of eight weeks age (distributed to four groups). The feed offered to chicks consisted of starter diet up to 8 weeks of age and grower diet up to 20 weeks of age. From 20 weeks onwards, birds were provided with layer diet u...

Evaluation of Dietary Calcium Requirements in Fayoumi Laying Hens

The experiment was carried out in poultry experimental station belonging to NRC, Cairo, Egypt. A total of 120 Fayoumi layers, 45 weeks old, were randomly divided into four equal groups. Each group included three replicates (10 hens in each). The first group was fed the control diet containing 3.3% gram Ca, whereas, the other three received diets containing 2.8, 2.6 and 2.4% gram Ca, respectivel...
